What the description does not tell you is that the rotating inner basket and the mechanism under the lid that turns the basket are made of plastic. This salad spinner does not come with a warranty. This review is from: R�sle 15690 Salad Spinner (Kitchen) I have well over a dozen kitchen tools by Rosle, and I have had a happy experience with all except this salad spinner. Rosle tools, in general, are the Mercedes of the kitchen tool world: solid construction, pleasing to the eye as well as the hand, and extremely durable. The lone exception is this salad spinner. I have purchased two of these expensive spinners, and both of them have broken--the 2nd one on only its second use. The item itself is gorgeous--a brushed stainless steel bowl with a mirror-like polished interior, a nicely polished stainless steel top, and all internal plastic parts are black so they don't yellow with age, as salad spinners made of white plastic tend to do over time. However, the spinning mechanism is very fragile and in my opinion is vastly inferior to anything else I've used from Rosle. Instead they have the "string" or "pump" salad spinner. But ones like this which you control the speed of the spin with your power by grabbing the handle and spinning, does a much better job. Really dries the lettuce. I was very happy to have found this with Tupperware. My first spinner which I purchased years ago was also from Tupperware and I loved that one too! I was surprised at how easily it cut potatoes, but I did cut the potatoes into thirds before putting them in the slicer. There was no resistance at all. Cutting carrots was a little more tricky. I used the smaller slicer and it does work, but I have to push down with both hands to cut through the carrots. I have also cut onions, bell peppers, celery, olives, and even lunch meat in it with no problems. With the bigger items I have just cut them down before putting them in the salad chef. I am a little worried about how long the blades will stay this sharp, but we will have to see. I planned to make pizza for dinner, but was still out grocery shopping by 7:30pm, so I picked up the Salad Chef to cut prep time for pizza when I reach home. I've watched the infomercial before, was really amazed by it, read lots of reviews about it from other websites, and wanted to buy it. Reviews from other websites warned about buying it online or through phone from its manufacturer, and I didn't see it in stores or here in Amazon until last week. And I thought I'd give it some more thought... until yesterday. So, what's inside the box? The basic Salad Chef set. It has 7 pieces: a bowl, a lid (green), "slicer" lid (green and white), a 1" x 1" dicing blade, a 1/2" x 1/2" dicing blade, a grater, and a recipe book. It does not include the salad spinner accessories (even the infomercial, if I remember correctly, shows that the salad spinner parts are "extra" stuff to be bought). How did it perform? When I got the package in the mail I was pleased to see that it came with a ton of accessories and a recipe book. I was able to make a salad big enough for my whole family of 5. I was very impressed with how quick, easy and how perfectly cut everything was. It's easy to clean and is such a time saver. I store my extra salad very easy in the bowl I make it in which is great for reminding me that I need my second serving of vegetables.
