Previous one had holes on the bottom of the outer shell to let water out. This one doesn't. We originally thought that was a problem but after filling it with water, swishing some fresh cilanto around then seeing the brown water in the bottom, I think this is way better than the water-run-through kind. I haven't used a spinner in the past. I just changed my diet and was looking to cut down on salad processing time. This spinner is great for that. I can fit a large salad for two in this spinner. The material seems a little flimsy so we will see how it holds up after time. It did come with a three year warranty out of the box. All the parts are plastic except the rubber ring around the bottom (for traction) and the spinning handle (for grip). On day one, I put two chopped romaine hearts in the strainer bowl. I rinsed them under water and shook a few times. Then I set the bowl in the spinner and adjusted the lid to fit. I gripped the lid with one hand and began to spin with the other.
